Join the Tackling Adult Illiteracy team and help a Central Indiana adult learn to read.
Indy Reads is looking for dedicated volunteers to serve as
- Literacy Tutors meet one-on-one or with a small group to help adult students to improve their reading, writing and spelling skills.
- English as a Second Language (ESL) Tutors work with a small group of students on speaking, understanding, and writing English.
- NEW: Reading Coaches volunteer for as little as two hours a month in a community literacy lab to help adults with basic correspondence, deal with bills, and assist adults in other basic reading and writing tasks. (more information below).
- Student Interviewers make the first contact with potential students and administer assessments to determine the reading and speaking level of students.
- Computer Lab Consultants help students and their tutors use reading, writing and English instructional software tools in our computer lab.
- Additional Volunteer Opportunities exist such as office helpers, board membership, serving on a committee, or helping with fairs and events.
- Indy Reads Contributors make financial donations that helps Indy reads continue to provide free adult literacy services. Donate today!
